Maddox swung open the car door and stepped out with slow, deliberate movements, his eyes flicking between Corrine and the station entrance. “You just walked out? Just like that?" Corrine met his gaze with a dry smile, lifting an eyebrow. "What else? I'm just a helpless woman-how could I possibly break out?" "Interesting, huh?" Maddox gave a short laugh, the corners of his mouth quirking as his gaze lingered on her. "They didn't hassle you at all?" She scoffed, brushing invisible dust from her sleeve. "Oh, please. As she approached, Mandy quietly opened the door and leaned in, murmuring near her ear, "Miss Holland, Natasha and Emily are waiting in the hotel room." Up in the hotel suite, Emily exhaled a deep, relieved breath the moment she saw Corrine return unharmed.
She also felt fortunate that she hadn't taken the wrong path. “Miss Holland," she stepped forward and nodded. Corrine returned the nod, cutting straight to the chase. “Is there anything you want to say?"
