Chapter 1058: Outside the hospital, they parted ways at the entrance, each heading off on their own.

Hadley pulled out her phone-still no messages. No calls. Eric hadn't contacted her at all.

And there was no word from Ernest either.

Where was Eric? Rain had been falling for days in Srixby, and that night, it only grew heavier.

As the storm raged on, Hadley tucked Joy into bed. Afterward, she stepped into the kitchen and poured herself a glass of water.

A sudden clap of thunder rattled the living room windows. The sound made her jump. Her hand shook, and water sloshed over the rim of the glass.

Then, out of nowhere, a strange feeling gripped her.

She set the glass down and rushed to the window, pulling back the curtain. Below, the street was shrouded in darkness. Trees swayed violently in the wind, their shadows flickering against the wet pavement.

And in the distance—just for a second-she thought she saw a faint light.

Her heart skipped a beat. Spinning on her heel, she ran to the foyer, grabbed an umbrella, and dashed out the door.

Downstairs, the rain hit hard. She held the umbrella above her and stepped into the downpour.

"Eric?" she called, her voice raised over the wind. "Eric, is that you?" She scanned the area, but the light was gone.

Had she just imagined it? "Eric! Eric, are you there?" No answer.

Then, just as she was about to give up- "Hadley." Fresh chapters are live at galThe voice was faint, but unmistakable.

She turned sharply toward it.

Under the old sycamore tree, Eric stood, soaked to the bone, smiling. She had seen him smile before—but never like this. It was a smile tinged with sadness, more heartbreaking than tears. Hadley stepped closer, lifting the umbrella to shield him.

"It's really you!" "It's me," Eric nodded.

He was drenched, water dripping from his hair, yet he didn't seem to mind.

"In this weather?" She held the umbrella higher to shield him. “What are you doing out here?" Eric didn't answer. He just stared at her, as if trying to memorize her face.

Confused, Hadley asked, "Where have you been? Ernest has been looking for you. Your phone's been off"

"Hadley." He cut her off and leaned in, placing a hand gently on her back, pulling her into his arms. "I missed you. So, so much." She froze. Was she imagining it, or did he sound completely... lost? Concerned now, she asked quietly, "What's wrong?"

Holding her tightly, Eric exhaled a shaky breath and whispered, ...I'm not really Enc Flynn."
