Chapter 1081: No matter what choice Eric settled on, Phillips would stand by him without question. Yet, Eric appeared far from composed.
"Fetch the car," Eric directed, dismissing Phillips with a wave. "I need a moment in the bathroom." "Yes, Mr. Flynn," Phillips replied, slipping away.
Eric veered into the bathroom and stood before the sink.
Turning on the faucet, he splashed cold water over his face, pressing his palms to his forehead.

Gradually, he regained his calm.
As he opened his eyes and turned to leave, someone emerged from the opposite bathroom-Hadley.
Their gazes locked, and Hadley paused, caught off guard.
Twice in thirty minutes. Fate seemed to delight in their chance encounters.
Hadley averted her eyes, gliding to the sink to wash her hands. She dried them with a paper towel, tossing it into the bin with practiced ease.
From the corner of her eye, she sensed Eric lingering, his stare unwavering.
Hadley feigned indifference.
"Hadley." As expected, Eric stepped into her path.
Hadley met his gaze sharply, finding him towering over her, his lips twisting into a wry smile. "So eager to move on? We've barely parted ways, and you've already found someone new?" Someone new? Hadley paused, but then grasped his meaning.
He always jumped to conclusions, assuming any man near her was, in his mind, a rival.
She let out a dry laugh. “You said it yourself—we're done. If I chose to start anew the very next day, it's no concern of yours." Brushing past him, she made for the door.
"Hadley, wait!" Eric's voice trailed after her, low and raw. "It hurts... It aches so much..." Hadley stilled for a heartbeat, her lashes fluttering as she pressed her lips tight. "It stings at first, but theals all wounds. I've walked that road-no one knows it better than I do." Without a backward glance, she walked away.
"Theals, does it?" Eric murmured, his eyes burning as he watched Hadley fade into the distance. "But you didn't say how long it takes." A month? A year? Or four long years...
Did it take her four years to let him go?
