“You're the shy one here.” Jessica snuggled up against him, warmth spreading between them. “If we're both this
bashful, we’ll end up living the rest of our lives completely sexless.”
Melvin grew more flustered by the second. He clearly wasn’t used to this kind of topic.

Melvin’s heart was pounding. Having a girl take the lead like this? It threw him completely off balance.
“Sleep,” he said, holding her a little closer, still awkward with the unfamiliar intimacy. “Goodnight.”

That night, Jessica slept soundly. Melvin, on the other hand, kept waking up—checking whether her blanket was
still on, wondering if he was taking up too much space, his mind restless beside her peaceful slumber.
