"In a criminal investigation, I have the right to legal counsel," she said calmly, her voice as composed as ever. The room crackled with tension, neither side willing to back down.
Moments passed. Then Corrine broke the silence again. "I understand you are under pressure. But your superiors cannot expect you to break protocol." That made them pause. A flicker of confusion passed between the officers.

The facts were clear enough without his explicit admission. Opting fam transparency rather than denial seemed the more straightforward approach. He also believed Corrine had no viable means of escape.
