Chapter 1730:
Vulture lowered his gaze, drawing a deep breath to quell the stirring in his chest.
When he looked up again, his features had hardened into an impenetrable mask. “Let’s move. I'll guide you
there.”
Their helicopter couldn't penetrate the restricted airspace above Nate's island, forcing them to make a
temporary landing on an adjacent, unknown island.
The island they currently occupied lay at a considerable distance from Nate’s position, and to approach
undetected, Corrine would need to traverse the water.
“I'll proceed alone,” Corrine stated, methodically checking her equipment. “Stay here and maintain
surveillance.”
Vulture’s brow creased with evident concern.
Corrine offered a reassuring squeeze to his shoulder. “Trust me.”
Before plunging into her mission, she swallowed a pill without water, then slipped beneath the sea’s surface.
Minutes after her departure, Vulture contacted Lone Ranger, his expression grave as he stared at the watery
path Corrine had taken. “Any developments on your end?”

The distinctive clatter of keystrokes echoed from Lone Ranger's end of the line. “Thus far, neither the Powells nor
the Quinns appear implicated, suggesting this is likely an internal Hopkins power struggle.”
He paused briefly, taking a measured sip from his steaming mug before continuing, “Nate currently faces twenty
top-level mercenaries—essentially human weapons designed for assassination.”
“Twenty... top-level?” Vulture’s voice cracked with disbelief. “Are you absolutely certain?”
Top-level mercenaries were exceptionally rare, lethal operatives who eliminated targets with mechanical
precision.
Twenty such killers converging on one location sent a chilling message—someone desperately wanted Nate
dead.
Vulture clenched his jaw, his gaze fixed on the direction where Corrine had vanished, his expression hardening
with each passing second. “Putthrough to Corrine,” Vulture demanded urgently.
Vulture hesitated, his voice laden with unspoken dread. “She’s already departed.”
On the other end, Lone Ranger erupted, “Have you completely lost your mind? You let Corrine infiltrate alone?
She hasn't actively trained in years! If anything happens to her... goddammit!”
He swallowed the remainder of his grim prediction, clasping his hands together in desperate supplication, his
voice dropping to a fervent whisper. “Please, any divine entity listening—shield Corrine from harm...”
Vulture’s lips curved into a sardonic smile. “What exactly do you believe in?”
“That's not the point now!” Lone Ranger fired back. “I just pray for Corrine’s safety.”
